Kazan Smart City enjoys a strategic location in Kazan, the third capital of Russia and adjoins to  Kazan International Airport. Kazan International Airport is one of the most rapidly growing airports in the Russian Federation. Airport’s passenger traffic in 2012 was 1.48 million, which shows a 21.1% increase over the previous year. An international passenger flow was 51 258 in 2012, an increase of 38.1% over the previous year.

In the first eight months of the year 2013 Kazan Airport handled 1.2 million passengers, an increase of 26,5% over the same period last year.

In 2013, Kazan International Airport launched Aeroexpress high-speed train service to the center of Kazan. This high-speed train line provides a backbone that will give multiple value towards to long-term vision and development of Kazan Smart City.
